ACE ARTWORK

Ok as I said on the other bit, the artwork that has graced all "A" covers has been quite frankly ace, and has had attention to detail. This bit is to point out a few bits within the artwork which would normally be missed!

First up, from their 'How Ace Are Buildings' Album: At the bottom of the inside sleeve which is hard to read, after all the thankyou's . Ok so it's not quite artwork, AND I had to change the scan somewhat just to get it into a manageable form, but the text remains unchanged! Note the original bassist Steve, and the on-going joke about who does what singing! Arf arf!

The rather clever 'background-bit-under-where-the-CD-goes' from the No.1 Re-issue. The whole theme is based around World War One Royal Flying Corps (RFC) - what was soon to be the RAF by the end of the war (1st April 1918 to be exact! - historical note!). The logos as you can see have been cunningly arranged as an aircraft propeller. Well, I think it good anyway.

The blokie above is a World War Ace by the name of Captain Albert Ball (V.C) which is found in both the inside sleeves of the No.1 Reissue. The obvious difference is that the right hand pic (from CD 1) has been modified (not by me) to look as if he is holding a copy of the ace 'How Ace Are Buildings' Album. Clever stuff! Also notice the VERY clever change to his uniform: the addition of an "A" logo! (see other pic)
The weird thing that struck me, is the pic on the left WITHOUT the album has 4 'kills' on the side of the fuselage of the aircraft (SE5A to be exact - not that I know or anything!), whereas the pic on the right has only 2! What else I don't understand is why the 'kills' have the British 'roundel', and not a German cross! Does this mean that he shot down aircraft of the same side as him??? I guess not, as he was decorated with a Victoria Cross, and I didn't paint the er... painting in the first place!!!!!

Yet again, still on the No.1 theme: The inside of the sleeves. It took me some while to work out that there was an "A" in the middle of the motif, but then that's why it is there in the first place!

Moving swiftly on........As you may well now be aware, the second "A" album 'Monkey Kong' had a monkey theme going on (funnily enough!) What may have been missed however, is the two pics on the left. Spread around the 'Old Folks' and 'Lake Tahoe' singles, these two logos require some searching to find. The first is the usual monkey but has a fag in it's mouth. It is subtle, but it IS different! The 'c' of the tycoon is a $ - I think. The second I guess is a Bigfoot (after the song 'Sasquatch'?), that just happens to be wearing an ace "A" baseball cap (as you do) - look closely!
